Folsom Elementary School offers Before and After School Care each school day. We pledge to make this program a much-needed convenience for our working parents as well as an educational, recreational, and socially enjoyable time for our student participants.

A registration form will be sent home on the first day of school. This program will be offered to FES students, Grades Kindergarten-5th only*. We will start the 2024-2025 program on Monday, August 12, 2024.
*Pre-K students are not allowed to attend child care UNLESS they have an older sibling who will be attending with them.

There is a registration fee of $20.00 per family and a form to complete.
(Forms will be available at Meet and Greet as well as sent home on the smart start days).

Before School Care: 7:00am-8:00am
This program is offered from 7:00am until school begins at 8:00am. Children must be dropped off at the gym door by car line. The student(s) will be walked in and signed in by a parent and/or guardian.

After School Care: 3:30pm-5:30pm
This program is offered from the end of the school day until 5:30pm. During after care, students are provided with a snack and homework help. We will have a lot of fun activities and some playtime!

Please have your ID to pick student(s) up from After Care. Students will only be released to an approved adult who is listed on their information card. Pick-up is at the gym door by car line. When the weather is nice, pick-up may be on the playground. A sign will be posted on the door if we are outside.

After Care is not provided after 5:30pm. If you arrive after 5:30pm there is a late fee of $15.00 per student per interval of 15 minutes (1-15 minutes late-$15 per child; 16-30 minutes late-$30 per child; 31-45 minutes-$45 per child.) If you are late 3 times, your child will no longer be allowed to attend our program.

Tuition and Fees

A registration fee of $20.00 per family must be paid 24 hours prior to the first day the student attends the program. This fee can be paid online using My Payments Plus.

All tuition payments must be made on or before the 1st of each month using My Payments Plus. (NO other forms of payment will be accepted!) Click on “activities” then Before or After care when paying. Please email the director your receipt each month. (It is your responsibility to email your receipt in a timely manner! If no receipt has been received, your student may be marked as unpaid!)

There will be a late fee of $10.00 per student if payment is made after the 10th of the month. If payment is not received by the 15th of the month, students cannot participate in the program for the remaining days of that month, and will not be allowed to participate again until payments are current.

*Please note, if you have a past due balance from the previous school year, it will be due at registration along with this year’s tuition and registration fees.

**There will be NO REFUNDS issued for Before or After Care fees and tuition.**

Discipline Policy
To ensure the safety of all children, every student is expected to follow the FES rules and regulations. All students must adhere to these rules and regulations to continue to participate in the program.

Students who consistently choose to act in an inappropriate manner during Before or After school care will not be allowed to attend for the remainder of the year.

Severe infractions or 3 write-ups will warrant immediate removal from the program.

What is TAP?
The Talented Arts Program is a part of the Students with Exceptionalities Department in St. Tammany Parish Public Schools.  In order to participate, a student must first receive a referral to be screened from a teacher or through a written request from a parent to the school. Once referred, the student must pass a school level screening and then a State Evaluation, which both follow guidelines outlined by the Louisiana State Department of Education.

TALENTED ART
Talented Art is an accelerated art class where advanced, intensive studio problems are presented in a small group setting, addressing a broad range of visual art media. Students will improve studio skills both technically and expressively, as well as their understanding of aesthetics, and their historical knowledge of the visual arts. Students explore drawing, sculpture, painting, and design during their course of study in the program, developing a portfolio of strong original work.

TALENTED MUSIC
Talented Music is an accelerated music class for singers and instrumentalists. The course consists of advanced training in the areas of music theory, history, ear training composition and performance. Students will have multiple performance opportunities throughout the year, will learn how to play and work with others, and will expand their musical repertoire and depth of knowledge. This type of instruction provides a strong foundation to students who desire to pursue music in college or professionally.

TALENTED THEATRE
Talented Theatre is an accelerated theatre course for actors and actresses. The course consists of in depth training in a variety of theatrical areas including performance, design, directing, and history. Students will focus on developing their communication skills, explore their creativity , strengthen their improvisation skills, and work as an ensemble. In addition, students will have multiple performance opportunities throughout the school year and will receive individualized instruction based on their specific needs as a performer.

Preparation for both the Screening and Evaluation Process Includes:
ART - A portfolio of ten to fourteen finished drawings or paintings that shows the student’s full range of skills and subject matter
MUSIC - Two solo pieces of contrasting style, preferably memorized
THEATRE - A memorized monologue chosen from a given list.
