Our School

Message from the Principal

Greetings Folsom Families,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year.  I hope everyone had a great summer and is rejuvenated!  I love the excitement that a new school year brings.  We have some new faces on campus that I can’t wait for you to meet.  From the teachers and paras to the cafeteria techs and the custodians, secretaries, administrators, and other wonderful support personnel, I am confident that we have put together the right team to lead our children and school to a year of consistent academic growth fostered by feelings of love, acceptance, and accomplishment for ALL students.    We truly believe that ALL students can and will learn to the best of their ability and we will do everything in our power to excel that growth and exceed their greatest potential.

Our district continues to ensure that safety is the number 1 priority.  The new electronic access control door locking system that is being installed on all exterior doors will be operational at the beginning of the school year.  All visitors must check in at the front office by showing identification and being given a visitor’s pass.  In addition, there will be a new GPS tracking system on all of our school buses.  Students will scan their I.D. badges when entering the bus and parents will be able to track the students on the bus.

Our school system has adopted a new social-emotional curriculum entitled, The Leader in Me.  This program helps students find leadership qualities within themselves.  It is based on the book, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey.  Throughout the school year, we will study all 7 habits.  We will also be talking to parents/guardians about the program.  We hope the language used and skills taught to students will carry over into the home environment.

Our school theme for this year is, “Be the Good”.  This simple phrase can take on endless meanings.  We will be encouraging students to “be the good” where ever they go, in all situations, at all times.

This year we are also looking to add new student clubs to our school.  Be on the lookout for more information to come.  We always welcome parent volunteers to help with clubs and activities.

Last year, we started a new PTA with a new board and new ideas.  Our PTA put in a lot of work last year planning events and raising money for our school.  We are always looking for new members.  We try to plan one big volunteer day per month on campus, but there are many ways you can help out without coming on campus.  Be sure to follow our PTA Facebook page.

We value our instructional time.  Please be respectful of that time by having your children in school before the 8:30 bell rings.  The school day ends at 3:31. No transportation changes will be taken after 3:00.  Transportation changes must be made in writing, sent by a note with the child in the morning, by fax with a picture I.D., or in person in the office.  Transportation changes will not be taken over the phone or by email.

If there is anything we can do for you, please don’t hesitate to give us a call.  We are looking forward to a great year!  We truly believe Folsom Elementary is “A Great Place to Be.”
